The Networking Centre for Excellence in Nanoelectronics for Environment Monitoring has been successfully launched on the 12th of October 2023 as part of the 46th edition of the International Semiconductor Conference (CAS 2023) held in Sinaia, Romania. Its launched was accompanied by talks and shows of support from Gheorghe Badaran, the vice-mayor of Sinaia and Dr. Daniela Dragomir, uefiscdi’s Widening and ERA national contact point.

The Centre of Excellence aims to work at National and European levels to develop strategies and practices for new sensors, electronic systems, and data analysis techniques for environment monitoring. Its relevance in air monitoring and pollution remediation stems from the transformative impact of nano-enabled technologies on the world of environmental science, with nanomaterials and nano-electronic devices being incorporated into leading-edge technology in every sector of environmental monitoring. This technological breakthrough would thus allow us to tackle challenges which have been insurmountable by traditional techniques. We are continuously looking for active engagement of stakeholders, including public authorities, public agencies, government agents, professional associations, large industries, SMEs, NGOs and research partners.
