NET4Air at E-MRS Spring Meeting 2025

NET4Air Exhibition Booth

NET4Air could be found at booth 48 in the Rhin Hall over the course of the E-MRS Spring Meeting, with project partners presenting the achievements of the projects and trying to find more European partners willing to join us in preserving air quality through the NET4Air Network.

NET4Air Workshop – Innovative Sensing Technologies for Environmental Monitoring

30th May – Room Londres

In the last day of convention, NET4Air partners had the pleasure of hosting interested parties for a short workshop on sensing technologies for environmental monitoring. The session was started through an introduction of the NET4Air project by coordinator Dr. Carmen Moldovan, followed by Dr. Mircea Modreanu’s presentation of novel materials for energy harvesting and storage, and his vision for IoT devices. Following that Prof. Alessandro Martucci gave an overview and analysis on the performance of optical sensors for air monitoring, and the highlighted how materials such as silk can be employed in new generation devices. Finally, Dr. Maria Dinescu gave an impassioned presentation on the progress of fabrication technologies for gas sensors, showcasing how techniques such as Laser-Induced Forward Transfer (LIFT) can allow reproducible deposition of a large gamut of materials.

The second part of the Workshop was dedicated to young researchers, with Alexandru Grigoroiu and Silviu Dinulescu from IMT presenting the scientific component of the NET4Air project, from a materials and hardware perspective respectively. Meanwhile, Silvia Deambrosis from ICMATE highlighted the advances that have been achieved in high-power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPiMS) for the deposition of thin films of sensitive materials.

The session was concluded with a round table in which the senior scientists presented their vision on new technologies for air quality monitoring and their vision on how such technologies can be adopted on a larger scale.
