NO2 emissions are one of the main sources of pollution in urban environments. Thus, gas sensors based on gold interdigitated electrodes and polypyrrole sensing layers have been investigated for its monitoring at room temperature. During the investigation it was determined that the addition of Ferrocene to a sensing layer consisting of a polypyrrole, reduced graphene oxide composite material sensing layer leads to a significant increase in both the sensitivity and linearity of the resulting sensor. Moreover, polypyrrole sensors have been identified to have excellent temporal stability, retaining a reproducible measurement even after two years of storage.
